Mobile workstation with touch

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch touchscreen laptop built around a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor with a 1.9 GHz base clock and 4.2 GHz turbo boost. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. The system runs Windows 10 Pro and targets professionals who need responsive performance in a portable form factor.

Included charger and battery

The package supplies the laptop, its AC adapter and the internal battery so the unit is ready to operate immediately. Thunderbolt 3 over the USB-C port adds high-speed data, video output and charging flexibility through a single cable. An HDMI port and three USB 3.0 ports handle legacy peripherals and external displays without extra dongles.

Slim chassis with versatile ports

The black chassis uses durable materials suited to frequent travel and client meetings. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 touch panel and external monitors via HDMI or Thunderbolt 3. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 provide wired and wireless connectivity. A microSD card reader and 720p webcam complete the mobile toolkit.

Questions about this item

Can the 1 TB NVMe drive be swapped for a larger one later?

The 1 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD is removable, so you can replace it with a higher-capacity NVMe module when you need more space.

What limits performance first when the Core i7-8650U runs at its 4.2 GHz turbo for long periods?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares the same thermal budget as the CPU, so sustained heavy graphics work will throttle the processor before the 16 GB DDR4 memory becomes a bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the 14-inch touchscreen chassis get during an all-day workload?

The compact 14.0" body relies on a single fan; under continuous load the surface above the keyboard warms noticeably and the fan spins up to an audible level while the 1.9 GHz base clock drops to stay within thermal limits.
