This machine suits travelling consultants and office users who value the touchscreen for presentations and the USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 PowerShare port for charging peripherals. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics card for rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. The 256GB capacity may also limit users with large local media libraries.

The processor runs at 1.90GHz with four cores, eight threads and 8MB cache inside a 15W envelope. This specific power profile determines whether the laptop meets your thermal and battery-life expectations for sustained workloads.

Questions about this item

How does the 1.9 GHz i7-8650U perform in a 14" ultraportable chassis?

The quad-core 8650U runs at a 15 W TDP, so it sustains higher clocks longer than lower-power Y-series chips while still fitting the slim Latitude 7490 body.

What does the USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port actually deliver for video and data?

It provides 5 Gbps data throughput and DisplayPort alternate mode for an external monitor, plus PowerShare to charge phones when the laptop is asleep.

Will a standard M.2 2280 NVMe drive fit the storage slot?

Yes — the 256 GB drive ships in an M.2 2280 PCIe slot, so any 2280 NVMe module will mount without an adapter.
