Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop built for mobile professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency, supported by 16 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD. The 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display provides a clear workspace for documents and web apps. Integrated graphics handle standard office visuals.

Suits daily office work, not heavy creative loads

This configuration suits knowledge workers who rely on cloud services, email, spreadsheets and video calls while moving between desk, home and travel. The light 1.4 kg chassis and 802.11ac wireless keep connectivity simple on the go. Buyers who need discrete graphics for CAD, video editing or modern gaming should look at a different class of machine. The integrated GPU and fixed 16 GB memory also limit intensive multitasking scenarios.

Quad-core i5-8250U with 3.40 GHz turbo

The processor is the specification that decides fit: four cores and a 3.40 GHz maximum turbo frequency determine how quickly the system completes typical business workloads. If your daily tasks stay within web apps, office suites and light multitasking, this CPU delivers adequate responsiveness. Workloads that demand sustained high clock speeds or more cores will exceed what this silicon can provide.

Questions about this item

Does the box include a power adapter and are any cables sold separately?

The AC power port is built in so the unit ships with its matching charger. The USB Type-C, HDMI and RJ45 ports are on board for monitors or wired networks; cables for those are not included.

Should I choose the 16 GB memory with 256 GB SSD or look for a larger drive?

This configuration pairs 16 GB RAM with a 256 GB solid-state drive. The memory is fixed at 16 GB and the drive is the only capacity offered for this model.

What does the 3.4 GHz turbo figure mean for everyday workloads?

The quad-core i5-8250U runs at 1.6 GHz base and can reach 3.40 GHz on short bursts, giving responsive office multitasking and quick web browsing while staying within the 1.4 kg chassis.
