Dell Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-7600U processor running at 2.80GHz. It comes with 16 GB of memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 drives a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suitable for office work and mobile professionals

This configuration suits users who need a reliable Windows 11 Pro machine for document editing, web browsing and video calls while travelling. The 16 GB memory supports multitasking across typical business applications. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for 3D rendering, modern gaming or GPU-accelerated workloads should look elsewhere.

256 GB SSD capacity and integrated graphics

The single specification that decides fit is the combination of a 256 GB solid-state drive and Intel HD Graphics 620. This storage amount holds the operating system and a moderate set of project files without requiring external drives immediately. The integrated graphics limit the system to 2D productivity and video playback rather than 3D-intensive tasks.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256 GB SSD in the Latitude 7490 and what step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the 256 GB SSD into the internal slot and secure it with the retention screw; the step often missed is reconnecting the battery cable before closing the case.

What maintenance will the 16 GB memory and Intel HD Graphics 620 need later?

The 16 GB memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded; keep the Intel HD Graphics 620 heatsink vents clear of dust to maintain thermal performance.

What limit appears first on the i7-7600U during sustained loads?

The i7-7600U hits its thermal ceiling first under sustained loads, causing the 2.80GHz clock to throttle until the chassis cools.
