Dell Latitude 7490 business laptop

This 14.0 inch laptop runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with a 1.9 GHz base clock and 4.2 GHz turbo boost. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD. The Full HD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input, driven by integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620.

Travellers needing legacy ports and Thunderbolt 3

Three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI output, a microSD reader, Gigabit Ethernet and a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C connector cover most meeting-room and docking scenarios. Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi handle wireless duties. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen, or a larger display should consider other models.

512 GB M.2 SATA SSD sets the storage ceiling

The installed drive uses the SATA protocol over an M.2 form factor, so sequential speeds are limited to the SATA interface maximum. There is no second drive bay mentioned, so total capacity cannot be expanded internally beyond this single 512 GB module.

Questions about this item

When will the 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD need replacement?

The 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD has no moving parts and no stated endurance limit; plan to replace it only if capacity runs out or SMART data reports wear.

What limits performance first during long heavy workloads on the i7-8650U?

The integrated UHD 620 graphics share system memory and thermal headroom with the CPU, so sustained 3D or compute loads hit the shared thermal envelope before memory bandwidth saturates.

How loud and hot does the 14 inch chassis get when running all day?

The quad-core 1.9 GHz processor with Turbo up to 4.2 GHz and integrated graphics fit in a thin 14.0 inch body; fans spin up under load but stay quiet during typical office use.
