Business laptop for travel and client meetings

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who move between offices and client sites. It runs Windows 10 Home on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32GB DDR4 memory and a 128GB M.2 SATA SSD. The non-touch FHD display resolves at 1920 x 1080.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI expand display options

A single Thunderbolt 3 port carries data, video and charging through one USB-C connector, while the HDMI output connects directly to projectors or external monitors. Three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 handle peripherals and networks without dongles. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the internal panel and external displays.

Suits mobile workers needing long battery life

This configuration suits consultants, sales staff and remote employees who value portability and all-day runtime over heavy graphics power. Buyers who want more storage capacity or a discrete GPU for creative workloads should look at something else. The 128GB drive fills quickly with large media libraries or local databases.

Questions about this item

Will the 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD need replacing if I store large files?

The 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD is the only internal drive; adding a second drive is not possible, so capacity limits may require an external USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt 3 storage device.

What limits sustained performance on the i7-8650U during long workloads?

The quad-core U-series processor shares the slim chassis cooling, so clock speeds drop once the thermal headroom is used up during continuous heavy tasks.

How loud and hot does the 14 inch chassis get when running all day?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and low-power CPU keep heat moderate; the fan stays audible but not intrusive during typical office workloads.
