Mobile workstation with Thunderbolt 3

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.6 GHz. It comes with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB SATA M.2 SSD. The non-touch display delivers a 1920 x 1080 FHD resolution driven by integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed.

Professionals needing legacy ports

This unit suits mobile workers who rely on a full-size HDMI output, a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a microSD card reader for presentations or docking. The 32GB memory capacity handles heavy multitasking and virtual machines. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a discrete GPU, or a newer CPU architecture should look at something else.

SATA M.2 SSD limits sequential throughput

The 256GB solid-state drive uses the SATA interface in an M.2 form factor, so read and write speeds remain at SATA levels rather than faster PCIe speeds. This affects large-file transfers and application load times. Verify that your workflow accepts SATA-class storage performance before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 14.0 inch Latitude 7480 get when the i7-6600U runs all day?

The dual-core i7-6600U and integrated HD Graphics 520 are designed for efficient operation in the slim 14.0 inch chassis, so fan noise and surface heat stay moderate during typical office workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports on this 7480?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable for the USB-C port and a standard HDMI cable for the HDMI port; the laptop includes its charger and battery.

Will my older USB 3.0 devices and Bluetooth 4.2 accessories work with the three USB 3.0 ports and wireless on this Latitude 7480?

Yes, the three USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with earlier USB devices, and Bluetooth 4.2 supports existing keyboards, mice and headsets.
