Business ultraportable for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for frequent travel and office docking. It pairs an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe drive. Windows 10 Pro is installed and ready for domain joining or device management.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the U-series CPU manages thermals by adjusting clocks within its 1.9 GHz base frequency. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles desktop composition and video playback without a discrete GPU. The NVMe storage maintains consistent throughput during large file transfers or database work.

Installation notes and common issues

The system arrives with a clean OS image so initial setup follows the standard Windows out-of-box experience. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports connect external displays without driver hunts. Buyers who need user-replaceable storage or memory should note the internal layout limits upgrade access. Grade B cosmetics mean minor wear on the chassis is normal.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core i7-8650U get when the laptop runs all day?

The quad-core 1.9 GHz processor uses integrated UHD 620 graphics, so sustained loads stay within the thin-and-light thermal envelope without a discrete GPU adding heat.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port?

Thunderbolt 3 uses USB-C; you need a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable, dock or device to drive external displays, storage or charging through that port.

Will my older USB-A accessories and HDMI monitor work with this Latitude 7490?

Yes, the laptop includes a full-size HDMI output and standard USB-A ports alongside Thunderbolt 3, so legacy mice, keyboards and 1080p monitors connect directly.
