Business travel companion

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine on the move. Its dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor runs at 2.6 GHz and is paired with 32GB of DDR4 memory for responsive multitasking. A 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD provides fast storage access. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Sustained workload profile

Under continuous load the ultra-low-voltage CPU maintains clocks within its thermal envelope rather than boosting briefly. The integrated GPU shares system memory so extended 3D tasks will be limited by the 32GB pool. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C supports external docks or GPUs for heavier sessions. Fan noise stays modest during typical office work.

Deciding specification

The 32GB DDR4 capacity is the single figure that determines suitability; buyers who need more memory for large datasets or virtual machines must look elsewhere. The soldered configuration cannot be upgraded after purchase. The 512GB NVMe drive is also fixed in capacity.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Intel Core i7-6600U get when the Latitude 7480 runs all day?

The dual-core 2.6 GHz processor and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 are designed for low power draw, so fan noise and surface temperature stay modest during typical office workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the HDMI and Thunderbolt 3 ports on this 7480?

You need an HDMI cable for external displays or projectors and a USB-C cable or Thunderbolt 3 dock for high-speed data, video or charging via the single Thunderbolt 3 port.

Will my older USB 3.0 devices and Gigabit Ethernet cable work with the 7480's three USB 3.0 ports and RJ-45 jack?

Yes, the three USB 3.0 ports and the 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port are fully backward-compatible with existing USB 3.0 peripherals and standard Gigabit network cables.
