Business laptop for mobile professionals

The DELL Latitude 7490 combines a 14.0 inch FHD display with an Intel Core i7-8650U processor, 32GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed. It suits executives and consultants who need a compact machine for office applications, video calls and travel.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core processor reaches 4.2 GHz turbo for short bursts but settles lower during long sessions because the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares thermal headroom. Expect stable performance for document editing, web browsing and light multitasking; heavy rendering or extended compiles will throttle noticeably.

Installation notes and common issues

The laptop arrives ready to use with charger and battery included. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports handle external monitors without drivers. Grade B condition means visible cosmetic wear on the chassis; buyers who want a pristine appearance should look elsewhere. The 256GB drive may fill quickly if large media libraries are stored locally.

Questions about this item

How much power does the Core i7-8650U draw during all-day use?

The processor runs at 1.9 GHz base with Turbo Boost up to 4.2 GHz and 8 MB smart cache; actual draw depends on workload and the laptop's cooling design.

Does the Thunderbolt 3 port need any extra dock or cable to drive an external monitor?

The USB-C port supports Thunderbolt 3 video output, so a compatible Thunderbolt 3 dock or USB-C to DisplayPort/HDMI cable will work without an additional adapter.

Can the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 run a second 1080p display over HDMI alongside the built-in screen?

Yes, the HDMI port can drive an external 1920 x 1080 display while the internal panel stays active, using the shared UHD 620 graphics.
