Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD in the Dell Latitude 7490 and what step is often missed?

Remove the base cover, insert the M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD at an angle into the slot, secure it with the retention screw, then reinstall the cover; the step often missed is fastening that screw before closing the chassis.

What maintenance or replacement will the Dell Latitude 7490 need later?

The internal battery will eventually lose capacity and require replacement; the DDR4 memory and M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD are soldered or slot-limited to 32GB and 512GB respectively, so storage upgrades mean swapping the drive.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the Dell Latitude 7490?

The 15W Intel Core i7-8650U hits its thermal ceiling quickly under continuous load, causing clock speeds to throttle below the 1.90GHz base frequency while the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory.
