Business laptop with 14-inch HD display

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14-inch business notebook built around a 5th-generation Intel Core i5-5300U processor. It comes with 8 GB of DDR3L memory and a 1 TB SATA solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. The LED-backlit panel has a 1376 by 768 resolution.

Suits mobile office work; not for heavy graphics

This unit fits professionals who need a lightweight Windows 10 machine for document editing, email and web-based applications. The integrated graphics and HD-resolution screen limit its usefulness for video editing, CAD or modern gaming. Buyers who want a touchscreen or a higher pixel density should look at something else.

1 TB 2.5-inch SATA SSD

The storage is a 2.5-inch 1 TB SATA solid-state drive, so the laptop only accepts drives with that physical size and interface. It will not work with M.2 or PCIe modules. Verify the drive form factor before ordering a replacement or upgrade.

Questions about this item

Does the integrated graphics limit sustained performance on the 1376 x 768 display?

The integrated graphics handle the 1376 x 768 resolution for office tasks, but heavy 3D workloads will hit the GPU ceiling first.

What are the thermal and noise characteristics of the i5-5300U during all-day use?

The 1.9 GHz dual-core i5-5300U runs cool and quiet under typical business loads; fan noise rises only during prolonged Turbo Boost 2.0 periods.

Which peripherals does the HDMI and VGA output require to work?

An external monitor or projector with HDMI or VGA input and a matching cable are all that is needed to use the video outputs.
