Latitude E5450 with i7-5600U

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-5600U running at 2.60 GHz with a 3.20 GHz turbo. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500 GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultrabooks

This unit replaces ageing ultraportables limited to 4 GB or 8 GB of soldered memory and mechanical drives. The jump is worth it when you need the full 16 GB ceiling for simultaneous office apps, browser tabs and light virtualisation, and the SSD eliminates the boot and load delays of a spinning disk.

500 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM ceiling

The 500 GB drive comfortably holds the OS, productivity suite and a working document library with room for local backups. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch panel for external displays and video playback. Memory maxes at 16 GB, so workloads requiring more RAM or discrete graphics will exceed this platform.

Questions about this item

What drive size and interface does the 500GB SSD use?

The 500GB SSD is a 2.5" SATA drive that fits the standard laptop bay.

How do I install the 500GB SSD in the Latitude E5450?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the 2.5" SATA SSD into the drive caddy, secure it with screws, and reconnect the cable.

Can I add more memory beyond the 16GB DDR3 already installed?

The two memory slots support a maximum of 16GB, so the current 16GB DDR3 already fills the limit.
