Dell Latitude E5470 14.0" FHD laptop

The Dell Latitude E5470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6820HQ quad-core processor running at 2.70 GHz with a 3.60 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The system ships with no operating system installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits buyers who need a 14 inch business-class machine with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 non-touch display and integrated Intel HD Graphics 530. It is not for buyers who require a pre-installed operating system, a touchscreen panel, or storage capacity beyond the single 128GB drive.

The specification that decides fit

The critical specification is the maximum supported memory of 16GB across two DDR3 slots, which determines whether the 8GB configuration can be upgraded for heavier workloads.

Questions about this item

Does the 2.5" SATA interface limit the 128GB SSD to SATA III speeds?

The 128GB SSD uses a 2.5" SATA connection, so its maximum transfer rate is bound by the SATA III specification of the platform.

What drive dimensions and connector does the storage bay accept?

The bay is built for a 2.5" SATA drive, matching the included 128GB SSD exactly.

How is the operating system installed when none is supplied?

Create bootable installation media on another machine, boot the laptop from it, and install the OS to the 128GB SSD; the step often missed is changing the boot order in BIOS to start from the USB drive.
