Dell Latitude E5470 14 inch FHD laptop

This Dell Latitude E5470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6820HQ processor running at 2.70 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.60 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 1TB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The quad-core processor handles everyday workloads and multitasking. The system ships with no operating system installed.

Best for portable office work not for heavy graphics

This laptop suits professionals who need a compact 14.0 inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution for documents, email and web-based applications. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 supports standard video playback and multiple external monitors. Buyers who require dedicated graphics memory for 3D rendering, video editing or modern gaming should look at a different system. The maximum supported memory is 16 GB across two slots.

No operating system included buyer must supply

The single specification that decides fit is the absence of a pre-installed operating system. The purchaser is responsible for acquiring and installing their own version of Windows or an alternative OS before the laptop can be used. This also means no recovery partition or vendor drivers are provided on the new 1TB SSD. Ensure you have installation media and valid licences ready.

Questions about this item

Does the 2.5" SATA interface cap the 1 TB SSD at SATA speeds?

Yes, the 1 TB SSD uses a 2.5" SATA connection so its throughput is limited to the SATA bus.

What physical drive bay does the 1 TB SSD occupy in the E5470?

The 1 TB SSD fits the standard 2.5" SATA drive bay inside the Latitude E5470 chassis.

How is the OS installed when the laptop ships with no operating system?

You create bootable media on another PC, boot the E5470 from it, and install Windows or Linux yourself.
