Dell Latitude E6420 14.1" business laptop

The Dell Latitude E6420 is a 14.1-inch business laptop powered by a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2620M dual-core processor running at 2.70 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 128 GB 2.5-inch solid state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate deployment in managed environments.

Sustained workload behaviour

The Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated GPU handles general productivity and video playback without a discrete card. Thermal output remains modest under continuous office tasks such as document editing, web browsing and email. The dual-core processor maintains steady clocks for typical workloads; heavy multi-threaded rendering or modern gaming will exceed its practical limits.

Chassis features and daily connectivity

The black slate chassis includes a Trusted Platform Module security chip for hardware-based encryption support. Video output is provided through VGA and HDMI ports for external displays or projectors. A built-in DVD±RW drive reads and writes optical media. Wired networking uses Gigabit Ethernet while wireless relies on the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 adapter. An integrated webcam supports video conferencing.

Questions about this item

How loud does the cooling fan get when the Intel Core i7-2620M runs at 2.70 GHz all day?

The dual-core processor draws moderate power, so the internal fan typically stays at a low speed during office tasks and only ramps up briefly under sustained heavy loads.

Which cables or adapters must I already own to use the VGA and HDMI video outputs?

You need a standard VGA cable for older projectors or an HDMI cable for modern monitors; both ports are full-size and require no proprietary adapter.

Will my existing DDR3 SODIMM modules work if I want to expand the 8 GB up to the 16 GB maximum?

Yes, the laptop accepts standard DDR3 SODIMM sticks, so compatible modules you already have can be installed in the second slot to reach the 16 GB limit.
