Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7250 is a 12.5-inch non-touch laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor at 2.3 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a 256 GB mSATA SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the 1366 x 768 display. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed. Connectivity includes three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n wireless, an SD card reader and a webcam.

Suits mobile office work.

This unit fits professionals who need a light, durable machine for document editing, web browsing and video calls on the move. The dual-core Broadwell CPU and integrated graphics handle typical productivity tasks and external displays via HDMI or mini DisplayPort. Buyers who want a higher-resolution screen, a discrete GPU, more than 16 GB of RAM, an optical drive or a touchscreen should look at other models.

16 GB soldered memory limit decides upgrade path

The system supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3, which is already installed, so no memory upgrade is possible. Storage uses an mSATA SSD form factor rather than a 2.5-inch or M.2 drive. Verify that your replacement drive matches the mSATA interface before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB mSATA SSD in this E7250, and what step do people miss?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the mSATA drive at an angle into its dedicated slot, and secure it with the screw. People often forget to reseat the battery connector before closing the case.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR3 memory need later?

The memory is soldered to the board and maxed at 16GB, so it cannot be upgraded. Only the mSATA SSD and the battery are user-replaceable components.

What limit shows up first on the Intel HD Graphics 5500 during sustained use?

The integrated GPU shares system memory and has no dedicated VRAM, so thermal throttling under prolonged 3D or video workloads is the first bottleneck.
