Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7250 is a 12.5 inch ultraportable built around a dual-core Intel Core i5-5300U processor running at 2.3GHz. It ships with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a 128GB mSATA SSD. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed, and the chassis includes HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs plus three USB 3.0 ports.

Display and connectivity limits

The non-touch panel is fixed at 1366 x 768 resolution, so multi-window work and modern web layouts feel cramped compared to 1080p screens. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles office video and light media only; it cannot drive demanding 3D applications. Wireless uses 802.11n, and the single gigabit Ethernet port tops out at 1000Mbps.

Upgrade context

This unit replaces an older 13 inch business notebook with a spinning hard drive and 4GB of RAM; the SSD and extra memory cut boot time and allow several browser tabs to stay open. The jump is worthwhile when portability and docked desk use matter more than screen sharpness or graphics power. It does not suit buyers who want more storage, a higher resolution display, discrete graphics, or user-replaceable components beyond the 16GB memory ceiling.
