14-inch Latitude E7440 with dual storage

The Dell Latitude E7440 is a 14.0-inch business ultrabook built around a 4th generation Intel Core i5-4200U dual-core processor. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory in a 4 GB x 2 configuration and a hybrid storage layout: a 128 GB mSATA SSD for the operating system plus a 1 TB 2.5-inch hard drive for bulk data. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Suited to office work.

This machine fits users who need a lightweight Silver chassis, integrated Intel HD Graphics, and a 1280 x 720 HD LED display for document editing, web browsing and video calls via the built-in webcam. HDMI and VGA outputs support external monitors. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a higher native resolution, discrete graphics for 3D workloads, or a faster storage interface should look at other models.

Dual-drive layout decides fit

The defining specification is the combination of a 128 GB mSATA SSD and a 1 TB mechanical drive, delivering quick boot times alongside 1 000 GB of capacity in a single 14-inch chassis. This split makes the unit a direct match for workflows that keep the OS and active projects on flash while archiving large file sets on the hard drive.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i5-4200U is running at its 1.6 to 1.9 GHz range after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency readout while the system is idle and under load; it should settle between 1.6 and 1.9 GHz on the dual-core processor.

Which items ship inside the box and which storage or memory parts must I source separately?

The laptop arrives with the 14.0 inch 1280 x 720 display, Intel Core i5-4200U, 8 GB DDR3 configured as 4 GB x 2, 128 GB mSATA SSD plus 1 TB 2.5 inch hard drive, HDMI port, VGA port, webcam, DVD-RW drive, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with CoA; no extra RAM modules or drives are required.

Should I choose the 128 GB mSATA SSD plus 1 TB hard drive version or a different capacity for the operating system and data?

This model only offers the single 128 GB mSATA SSD for the Windows 10 Pro installation together with the 1 TB 2.5 inch hard drive for files, so there is no alternative capacity to select.
