Business Ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude E7440 is a 14.0 inch FHD touchscreen Ultrabook built for business users who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. A 4th Gen Intel Core i5-4300U dual-core processor running at 1.6 to 1.9 GHz works with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and Intel HD Graphics 4400 to handle office applications and web workloads.

Upgrade from slower boot drives and limited capacity

This configuration replaces a single mechanical drive with a dual-drive layout: the operating system sits on a 128 GB mSATA SSD for fast start-up, while a 2.5 inch 1 TB hard drive stores large file archives. The jump is worth it when you want responsive application launches without sacrificing local storage space for documents and media.

Limits of the integrated graphics

Intel HD Graphics 4400 relies on system memory and is suited to 2D productivity, video playback and light creative tasks; it does not support modern 3D APIs or hardware-accelerated compute workloads. DDR3 SODIMM modules cap expansion at the installed 8 GB, so memory-intensive virtualisation or large dataset work will hit a hard ceiling.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis use a 2.5 inch bay for the 1 TB hard drive?

Yes, the 1 TB hard drive is a 2.5 in unit installed alongside the 128 GB mSATA SSD.

How is the 8 GB DDR3 memory configured and which slot is commonly overlooked?

It ships as 4 GB x 2 SODIMM modules filling both slots; the lower slot under the keyboard is often missed during upgrades.

Which storage drive holds the Windows 10 Pro installation and will need cloning first when replaced?

The operating system resides on the 128 GB mSATA SSD, so that drive must be cloned or re-imaged before swapping it out.
