Dell Latitude E7450 14.0 inch laptop

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0 inch business laptop running Windows 10 Home on an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor at 2.3 GHz. It suits mobile professionals who need a compact device with a 1TB SSD and 8GB of DDR3 memory for everyday office tasks and video calls.

Sustained workload behaviour

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 shares system memory with the CPU, so graphics-intensive tasks will reduce the bandwidth available to processor cores during long sessions. Thermal limits in the slim chassis mean the dual-core chip may lower its frequency under continuous heavy load, making it better suited to burst workloads than extended rendering or compilation.

Storage and memory ceiling

The 1TB solid-state drive provides the primary storage capacity, while the motherboard supports a maximum of 16GB of DDR3 memory across its slots. Buyers who need more than 1TB of internal storage or more than 16GB of RAM should consider a different platform.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Intel Core i5-5300U get when the E7450 runs all day?

The dual-core 2.3 GHz Broadwell chip is a low-power design that stays cool and quiet under typical office loads; fan noise only rises during sustained heavy tasks.

What must I already own to use the HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs on this E7450?

You need an HDMI cable or a mini DisplayPort cable (or adapter) plus a monitor, TV or projector that accepts those inputs.

Will my older USB 2.0 flash drives and 100 Mbps Ethernet switch work with the three USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit LAN on this laptop?

Yes — USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices, and the Gigabit Ethernet port negotiates down to 100 Mbps automatically.
