Compact business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460s is a 14.0-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.60 GHz with two cores. It includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro is installed and the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the 1366 x 768 non-touch display. The chassis weighs 3lb and measures 0.7 x 13 x 8.9 inches.

Mobile professionals needing core connectivity

This configuration suits users who need a lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine with a full set of legacy ports: three USB 3.0, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, gigabit LAN, an SD card reader and a SIM card slot. A 720p webcam and integrated Wi-Fi support video calls. Buyers who require a higher-resolution screen, a touchscreen, more than 8GB of memory or a larger SSD should consider other models.

256GB SSD capacity

The single specification that determines fit is the 256GB solid-state drive. It sets the total space available for the operating system, applications and active files. If your workload demands more local storage, this unit will not meet that need without external drives or cloud offload.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256GB SSD or look for a larger drive?

The 256GB SSD holds the OS, apps and a solid working set of files; if you store large media libraries locally you will want external storage or a larger internal drive.

What does the 2.60GHz Core i7-6600U actually deliver in daily use?

Two cores at 2.60GHz with Intel HD Graphics 520 handle office multitasking, web browsing and video playback smoothly; heavy rendering or gaming will be limited.

What can the Mini DisplayPort and HDMI drive in practice?

Both ports support external monitors; Mini DisplayPort can drive higher resolutions while HDMI is convenient for TVs and projectors.
