Latitude E7450 for business mobility

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine. It ships new with an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor, 8GB DDR3 memory and a fresh 1TB SSD. The non-touch FHD display resolves at 1920 x 1080 and runs on Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Dual-core U-series processor

The Intel Core i5-5300U runs at a 2.30 GHz base frequency and can reach 2.90 GHz turbo on its two cores. This low-power U-series chip determines whether the system fits workloads that stay within dual-core performance envelopes. Buyers who need higher sustained multi-core throughput should look elsewhere.

Cooling and power profile

The 14.0 inch chassis uses integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 and a 2.5 inch SATA SSD, keeping heat output modest during typical office tasks. Fan noise stays low under light loads and the U-series processor limits peak power draw. The 1TB SSD has no moving parts, further reducing acoustic and thermal load.

Questions about this item

What does the 2.90 GHz turbo frequency deliver in everyday use?

The dual-core i5-5300U can boost to 2.90 GHz for short bursts, speeding up single-threaded tasks like web browsing and document editing while staying within the laptop's thermal limits.

How does the 2.5" SATA interface affect the 1TB SSD?

The drive connects through a standard 2.5" SATA link, so sequential read and write speeds are capped at the SATA bus maximum rather than faster alternative interfaces.

Will the 8GB DDR3 modules fit both memory slots?

Yes, the board has two DDR3 slots and the installed 8GB fills one; you can add a second DDR3 module up to the 16GB total supported by the system.
