Ready-to-use laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch HD+ notebook powered by an Intel Core i7-6650U processor running at 2.20 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It comes equipped with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a new 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD. The 1600 x 900 non-touch display is driven by Intel Iris Graphics 540.

Not suited for legacy OS requirements

Buyers who need a pre-installed operating system will have to acquire and install Windows or another OS themselves. The memory is already at the maximum supported capacity of 16 GB across two slots, so anyone planning to add more RAM should consider a different platform.

16 GB soldered memory limit

The system supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR4 memory and both slots are populated, preventing any future RAM expansion. This fixed capacity is the key specification to verify against your workload requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

What storage standard does the M.2 500GB SSD use and what speed limit applies?

The 500GB M.2 SSD uses the NVMe protocol over a PCIe interface, so throughput is limited by the PCIe lane configuration of the i7-6650U platform.

What physical space and connector does the storage drive occupy?

The drive fits a single M.2 slot inside the 14.0-inch chassis; no 2.5-inch bay or extra cabling is present.

How is the operating system installed on a machine that ships without one?

Create bootable media on another PC, boot the E7470 from USB, then install Windows or Linux onto the NVMe SSD; the common mistake is skipping the BIOS boot-order change.
