Dell Latitude E7470 14-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.60 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a new 500GB SATA SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed on the system.

Who should consider this laptop

This unit suits buyers who need a compact 14-inch device with a Core i7 processor and solid-state storage for office applications and web-based workflows. It is not for users who require a touchscreen, a higher resolution panel, or a dedicated graphics processor. Builders who need more than 16 GB of total memory capacity or a larger drive should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification: 500GB SATA SSD

The new 500GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD is the single specification that determines whether this is the right part, because it fixes both the storage capacity and the drive interface for the laptop. The system supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR4 across two slots, so the 8GB installed today can be doubled if the workload demands it.

Questions about this item

How much power does the Intel Core i7-6600U draw when the laptop runs all day?

The dual-core i7-6600U has a base frequency of 2.60 GHz and a turbo of 3.40 GHz; typical sustained load keeps the 14.0" HD panel and 500 GB SATA SSD within the system's standard thermal envelope.

What must I already own to start using this Latitude E7470?

The unit ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed, 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 500 GB SSD, so only a compatible AC adapter is required to power it on.

Will my older SATA peripherals work with the 2.5" 500 GB drive inside?

Yes, the storage uses a standard 2.5" SATA interface, so existing SATA cables, docks or enclosures will recognise the drive without extra adapters.
