Professional-grade 14.0-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude E7490 is a business-class notebook built around an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 4 GB of DDR4 2400 memory. It ships with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and a 250 GB SSD for the operating system and core applications. This configuration targets office workers, students and remote professionals who need a lightweight, managed Windows device for daily productivity.

Integrated graphics and 1366 x 768 panel

The system relies on integrated graphics paired with a 14.0-inch non-touch display at 1366 x 768 resolution, which limits its suitability for colour-critical design, video editing or modern gaming. A single HDMI port allows one external monitor, but the integrated GPU and modest RAM ceiling of 32 GB restrict multi-monitor performance and heavy multitasking. The absence of a webcam also means separate hardware is required for video calls.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultraportables

Buyers moving from dual-core ultraportables with mechanical drives will notice faster boot times and snappier application launches thanks to the quad-core CPU and SSD. The jump is worthwhile when the workload stays within web browsing, document editing, email and streaming. Users who need more than 4 GB of memory out of the box, a higher-resolution screen, dedicated graphics or a built-in webcam should look at better-specified models.
