Suits mobile professionals needing a light chassis

The 14.0 inch FHD 1920 x 1080 display and compact frame suit mobile professionals who value screen clarity in a small footprint. Buyers who want a dedicated graphics card for creative workloads or gaming should look elsewhere. The integrated GPU relies on shared system memory for video tasks.

Quad-core i7-8650U processor decides fit

The 1.90GHz Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor is the specification that decides whether this laptop matches your workload. It delivers four cores for office multitasking and light content creation. Heavier compute tasks will require a higher-wattage CPU.

Questions about this item

What does the USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface cap at in practice?

The three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports each run at up to 5 Gbps, so connected drives or peripherals will not exceed that throughput.

What physical space is needed for the 14.0" chassis and its ports?

The 14.0" FHD panel sits in a compact XPS 7490 body that still fits three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one HDMI output and one RJ-45 jack.

How is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed on this unit, and what step is often missed?

The laptop ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-loaded; the step users skip is running the Windows 11 compatibility check before upgrading.
