ThinkPad T480 14 laptop for office work

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is a 14 inch HD laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with four cores and a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a new 500 GB SATA solid-state drive in a 2.5 inch form factor. The system arrives without an operating system so the buyer installs their preferred platform.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles typical business workloads without a discrete GPU, keeping heat output and fan noise modest during document editing or web browsing. The quad-core U-series chip is rated for low base power, so the chassis stays comfortable on a desk or lap during normal productivity sessions.

32 GB DDR4 maximum memory decides fit

This unit already contains the full 32 GB DDR4 capacity supported by the platform across its two slots, leaving no room for future RAM upgrades. Buyers who anticipate needing more memory should consider a different model, while users satisfied with 32 GB receive a ready-to-deploy configuration.

Questions about this item

How do I install an operating system on a laptop that ships with no operating system?

Insert a bootable USB drive with your chosen OS, then power on and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

Will the 32GB DDR4 memory need to be upgraded later?

The system is already at the maximum supported capacity of 32GB, so no further memory upgrades are possible.

What limits sustained performance on the Intel UHD Graphics 620 during long workloads?

The integrated GPU shares system memory and thermal headroom with the CPU, so extended heavy use will throttle clock speeds.
