OptiPlex 390 desktop for everyday tasks

The Dell OptiPlex 390 pairs a 2nd Gen Intel Core i5-2400 at 3.10 GHz with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 250 GB 3.5-inch hard drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed alongside a 16X DVD±RW drive. A 22-inch Dell LCD monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse complete the bundle.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core processor and integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 handle routine office applications and web browsing without thermal throttling during typical sessions. Gigabit Ethernet keeps network transfers steady for cloud backups or streaming. The mechanical hard drive and optical drive add audible seek noise under continuous read/write activity.

Build and connectivity day to day

The black and silver desktop chassis provides VGA and HDMI video outputs for the included monitor or a second display. Front-access USB ports and the DVD-RW tray are positioned for frequent media swaps. Integrated audio and the bundled wired peripherals keep the desk free of extra dongles or batteries.

Questions about this item

How loud does the OptiPlex 390 get when the i5-2400 runs all day?

The Intel HD Graphics 2000 and integrated components keep thermal output modest during typical office tasks, so the system fan runs at low speed and stays quiet in a home office.

What cables must I already have to connect the included 22" Dell monitor?

The desktop provides both VGA and HDMI video outputs, and the monitor accepts the same interfaces, so a standard VGA or HDMI cable will complete the link.

Will my older USB keyboard and mouse work alongside the bundled set?

Yes, the front and rear USB ports accept any standard USB input device, letting you keep legacy peripherals while using the included keyboard and mouse.
