Dell OptiPlex 390 SFF Business Desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 390 SFF is a small form factor desktop computer designed for business environments. It ships with an Intel Core i5-2400 quad-core processor running at 3.1GHz, 8GB of DDR3 memory and a 500GB hard drive. Windows 7 Professional comes pre-installed along with a standard keyboard and mouse. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 handles display output.

Office Users Seeking Legacy Windows 7 Hardware

This system suits organisations that must run validated Windows 7 Professional workloads on LGA 1155 hardware. Buyers who need more than 8GB of memory, faster storage interfaces or a modern operating system should look at something else. The small form factor chassis also limits internal expansion slots compared with larger towers.

LGA 1155 Socket Defines Upgrade Path

The processor mounts in an LGA 1155 socket, so any future CPU upgrade must use that same socket type. This single constraint determines which replacement processors are physically and electrically compatible with the motherboard.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz quad-core processor and 8GB DDR3 memory are detected after setup?

Enter the system BIOS or open Windows 7 Professional System Properties; both will show the i5-2400 running at 3.1 GHz with 6 MB L3 cache and the full 8 GB of DDR3 installed.

What accessories are included in the box and what must be purchased separately?

The package contains the OptiPlex 390 SFF chassis, a standard keyboard, a standard mouse, a DVD-RW drive and Windows 7 Professional pre-installed; a display and any additional cables are not included.

Which configuration should I choose if I need the 500 GB hard drive and Intel HD Graphics 2000?

This single listed version already provides the 500 GB hard drive and integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000, so no alternate capacity or graphics option needs to be selected.
