Compact business desktop for office workloads

The Dell OptiPlex 5000 Micro packs a 12-core Intel Core i7-12700T processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB M.2 solid-state drive into a tiny chassis. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and a recovery image, aimed at professionals who need reliable performance for productivity applications without a full-size tower.

Integrated graphics and single gigabit Ethernet

The system relies on Intel UHD Graphics 770 built into the processor, so it handles everyday office tasks and multi-monitor output but is not suited for demanding 3D rendering or gaming workloads. A single RJ45 port provides wired network connectivity at gigabit speeds; there is no additional network interface or discrete graphics slot to upgrade later.

Micro form factor demands external peripherals

The compact case saves desk space but omits a keyboard, mouse and monitor, so buyers must supply their own. Professional reconditioning means the unit may show minor cosmetic scratches or scuffs on the bezel while passing full functional testing. Its small footprint suits tight workspaces, yet the dense layout leaves no room for internal drive bays or full-height expansion cards.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16GB DDR4 version or look for a larger memory option?

This unit ships with 16GB DDR4 already installed; the Micro chassis uses SODIMM slots, so you can add a second module later if your workload needs more than 16GB.

The i7-12700T shows 1.40GHz base and 2.00GHz in the specs — what speed will I actually see?

The processor runs at 1.40GHz base and can boost higher under load; the 2.00GHz figure is another rated frequency, so sustained speeds depend on cooling and the task you are running.

Does the Gigabit Ethernet port limit my network throughput?

The single RJ45 port is rated at Gigabit Ethernet, so wired transfers are capped at 1Gbps — fine for typical office traffic but not for multi-gigabit LANs.
