Dell OptiPlex 7010 Slim Tower

This desktop computer is a new Dell OptiPlex 7010 Slim Tower built for home or office use. It runs a 3rd Gen Intel Quad Core i7-3770 processor at 3.40 GHz with 32 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 2.5 inch 256 GB Solid State Drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and a USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Upgrading from older desktops

The jump from a dual-core system or a mechanical hard drive is worth it when daily multitasking feels sluggish. The quad-core processor with 3.90 GHz Turbo Boost and 32 GB of DDR3 memory handles many browser tabs and office applications at once. The 256 GB SSD cuts boot and load times compared to a traditional hard drive.

Practical limits of DDR3 and integrated graphics

DDR3 memory and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 engine set the ceiling for modern workloads. The graphics core runs at 650 MHz base and 1.15 GHz max dynamic frequency, supporting up to three displays via Intel FDI. Demanding 3D applications or games that require newer instruction sets or dedicated video memory will not run well on this platform.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the 2.5" 256 GB SSD need inside the Slim Tower chassis?

The 2.5-inch drive fits the standard internal bay; no extra brackets are required beyond the four mounting screws that align with the chassis holes.

Which step is often missed when seating the 32 GB DDR3 DIMMs in the 240-pin slots?

Press each module down until both side clips click shut; a partial seat leaves the system unstable even though the module looks inserted.

When should the DVD±RW drive be replaced if it stops reading discs?

Replace the optical drive when cleaning the lens fails to restore reliable reading of commercial DVDs or written media.
