Ready-to-run desktop for office work

The Dell Optiplex 7040 Micro Tower arrives with Windows 10 Pro installed, an Intel Core i7-6700T processor at 2.8 GHz, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe drive. A wired keyboard and mouse are included so the system is usable straight out of the box.

Suits general business and home-office users

This configuration handles web apps, document editing and multi-monitor productivity with the integrated graphics and six USB 3.0 ports. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance, internal expansion slots or a media card reader should look at a larger form factor.

16 GB DDR4 memory fixed at the maximum

The board supports 16 GB total and the system already ships with that amount, so no further memory upgrades are possible. If your workflow requires more RAM, a different platform will be necessary.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512 GB NVMe drive and what step is often missed?

The NVMe drive is factory installed in the M.2 slot; the step people miss is enabling the NVMe controller in BIOS before cloning or reinstalling Windows.

What maintenance will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16 GB DDR4 is already at the 16 GB maximum supported, so no memory upgrade is possible; only dust removal from the Micro Tower vents is needed.

Which limit appears first when the i7-6700T runs sustained multi-core workloads?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics shares system memory, so graphics-intensive tasks hit the 16 GB DDR4 ceiling before the processor throttles.
