Ready desktop with SSD and hard drive

This Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower is a new system built for everyday office and home use. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 256 GB solid-state drive for the operating system, and a 1 TB hard drive for bulk storage.

Suits general office and study tasks

The Intel 2nd Gen i5-2400 quad-core processor at 3.10 GHz with 3.40 GHz turbo boost handles web browsing, document editing and light multitasking. Buyers who need discrete graphics, more than 16 GB of DDR3 memory, or a modern processor architecture should look elsewhere.

265 W power supply limits upgrades

The unit includes a 265 W PSU, a DVD±RW drive, gigabit Ethernet, a USB Wi-Fi dongle, and integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000. This power rating restricts the addition of a dedicated graphics card or other high-draw components.

Questions about this item

What does the i5-2400's 3.10 GHz base speed and 3.40 GHz turbo mean for everyday tasks?

The quad-core processor runs at 3.10 GHz normally and can boost a single core to 3.40 GHz for short bursts, giving snappy response in office apps and web browsing while staying within the 265 W power supply limit.

How does the USB wireless dongle connect to the network?

A USB Wi-Fi dongle is included; plug it into any free USB port to join a wireless network without opening the case.

Will a standard 3.5-inch hard drive fit in the Mini Tower case?

Yes — the 1 TB drive supplied is a 3.5-inch unit, and the Mini Tower chassis has bays designed for that form factor.
