Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower desktop

This Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower desktop is built around an Intel 2nd Gen i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz with a 3.90 GHz turbo boost. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory, a 256 GB 2.5-inch solid-state drive and a 2 TB 3.5-inch hard drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and a USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Suits office tasks, study and light media playback

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 and 265 W power supply limit this system to basic productivity, web browsing and video streaming. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for gaming, 3D work or multi-monitor 4K output should look at a different platform. The Mini Tower case uses a DIMM 240-pin memory layout and provides standard expansion slots for future upgrades.

Sustained load behaviour and thermal limits

Under continuous multi-threaded workloads the quad-core CPU will throttle toward its base frequency once the 265 W power budget and compact Mini Tower cooling are saturated. The SSD handles operating system and application I/O without slowing, while the 2 TB hard drive provides high-capacity archival storage that is unaffected by thermal constraints.
