Mini Tower Desktop for Home Office

The Dell OptiPlex 990 Mini Tower is a desktop computer built for student and home office use. It runs on an Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor with a 3.40 GHz base frequency and 3.80 GHz Turbo Boost. The system includes 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a 64-bit architecture. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed with a USB keyboard and mouse provided.

Storage Combination and Connectivity

A 512 GB solid-state drive handles the operating system and applications while a 1 TB hard drive adds capacity for larger files. Both drives fit the 2.5 inch form factor inside the chassis. A 16X DVD±RW optical drive reads and writes discs for software installation or media. Gigabit Ethernet provides wired network access without extra adapters.

Sustained Operation on 265 W Power

The 265 W power supply supports the processor, memory, dual drives and integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 during extended sessions. Integrated graphics share system memory rather than using dedicated video RAM. The Mini Tower form factor allows internal airflow for continuous workloads such as document editing, web browsing or media playback. Buyers needing discrete graphics expansion or higher-wattage headroom should verify compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 265 W power supply limit the i7-2600 when it runs at 3.80 GHz Turbo Boost for long periods?

The 265 W unit is sized for the i7-2600 and its integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000; sustained Turbo Boost at 3.80 GHz stays within that envelope for typical office workloads.

How loud and hot does the mini-tower get when the 265 W supply and i7-2600 run all day?

The OptiPlex 990 uses a single rear exhaust fan and CPU heatsink; under continuous load the chassis warms noticeably but fan noise remains at a low office hum.

Do I need to supply my own monitor, or does the integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 require a specific cable type?

No monitor is included; the system provides VGA and DisplayPort outputs, so any display with one of those inputs and a matching cable will work immediately.
