85W MagSafe 2 T-Tip Adapter

This 85W MagSafe 2 T-Tip AC adapter is built for MacBook Pro 13-inch and 15-inch Retina models released from 2012 through 2017. It delivers 20V at 4.25A for a total of 85W output. The unit is suited for owners of compatible MacBook Pro and MacBook Air systems needing a replacement or spare power supply.

Verify Model and Connector Type

Before ordering, confirm your Mac uses the MagSafe 2 T-Tip connector and requires 85W input. The adapter fits models such as A1398, A1424, A1425, A1465, A1466 and A1502 across mid-2012 to 2017. It will not work with Macs introduced before mid-2012 or with models released from 2021 onward. Check the model number on the base of your laptop or on the original charger.

Replaces Original Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Charger

This adapter replaces the Apple 85W MagSafe 2 power supply for the listed Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Air units. The upgrade is worth it when the original charger is lost, damaged or shows frayed cables. It restores full charging speed and the amber or green LED status indicator without changing the power profile of your machine.

Questions about this item

Does the box include the AC mains cable or only the adapter and MagSafe 2 connector?

The package supplies the 85 W adapter with its fixed MagSafe 2 T-Tip cable; the detachable AC mains cord is not included and must be sourced separately.

My MacBook Pro is a 13-inch Late 2013 (model A1425) — is this the correct 85 W MagSafe 2 unit?

Yes — the adapter matches the 20 V / 4.25 A specification Apple used for every 13- and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro from mid-2012 through 2017, including A1425.

What does the amber LED indicate while the machine is plugged in?

Amber shows the battery is charging; the light turns green once the battery reaches full charge.
