The Dell PowerEdge R430 occupies a single rack unit while supporting up to two Xeon processors and twelve DDR4 DIMM slots. It ships with a single six-core E5-2603 v3 running at 1.6 GHz and 8 GB of memory. Four 1 GbE ports and two PCIe 3.0 slots provide baseline connectivity and expansion for small-scale workloads.

Hot-plug drive bays and RAID

Eight 2.5-inch bays accept SAS or SATA drives; three 600 GB 15 K SAS drives are installed. The H730 controller with 1 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A single 550 W redundant power supply and included trays simplify drive swaps without downtime.
