1U rack server with Xeon E5-2603v3, 8GB DDR4, three 300GB SAS drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 3 x 300GB
The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built for organisations that need dense compute in a standard rack. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2603v3 six-core processor running at 1.6GHz and 8GB of DDR4 memory. Remote management is handled by iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller, simplifying deployment and monitoring in data-centre environments.
The system supports up to 384GB of total memory across 12 DIMM slots, though the installed 8GB leaves substantial room for expansion. Storage uses a Dell PERC H730 RAID controller with 1GB cache, currently managing three 300GB 15K SAS drives in hot-plug 2.5-inch bays. The chassis accommodates up to eight drives and the controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for flexible redundancy or performance tuning.
A single 550W redundant power supply handles typical loads while providing fail-over protection. The 1U form factor relies on high-speed internal fans to move air across the processor, memory and drive bays, so acoustic output is noticeable in quiet office settings. Power consumption scales with processor utilisation and drive count, remaining within the supply’s rated capacity for the configured hardware.

Other versions of this model
The R430 accepts DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s, but actual speed depends on the installed E5-2603v3 CPU capability; matching that speed ensures compatibility.
During POST open the H730 configuration utility (Ctrl+R) and confirm each 300 GB 15K SAS drive appears as a physical disk with the correct capacity.
A power cable is included; the rail kit, bezel, empty drive trays, mouse, keyboard and video cable are listed as peripherals that ship with the unit.
