2U rack server with a ten-core 2.3 GHz Xeon, 8 GB DDR4, two 1 TB SATA drives and an H330 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 2 x 1TB
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mounted server system designed for data-centre deployment. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 memory. The chassis supports up to two processors and includes two 750 W redundant hot-swap power supplies. A Dell PERC H330 12 Gbps RAID controller manages storage across eight 3.5-inch hot-plug drive bays.
This configuration suits organisations building virtualisation hosts or database nodes that can exploit the 24 DIMM slots for large DDR4 capacity. The ten-core CPU and hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 support multi-threaded workloads and local data redundancy. Buyers who need more than two installed drives, GPU acceleration, or 10 GbE networking as standard should evaluate other configurations.
The server arrives with one Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor operating at 2.3 GHz, delivering 20 virtual cores with hyper-threading enabled. A second processor socket is available for future upgrade. This CPU choice determines the maximum memory speed of 2400 MT/s and the PCIe 3.0 lane budget for the seven expansion slots and dedicated PERC slot.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with one E5-2650 v3 processor, 8GB DDR4, two 1TB 7.2K SATA drives in hot-plug trays, an H330 RAID controller, two 750W redundant power supplies, a DVD drive and a 4-port 1GbE daughter card. Operating system, additional CPUs, memory modules, extra drives and 10GbE networking are not included.
The board has 24 DDR4 slots (12 per processor) and supports modules of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB up to 2400MT/s. With one CPU installed only the first 12 slots are usable; adding the second processor unlocks the remaining 12 slots for a maximum of 1536GB.
The single E5-2650 v3 provides 10 physical cores and 20 threads via hyper-threading at 2.3GHz. The system supports a second identical processor for 20 cores and 40 threads total, and the 2U form factor includes redundant 750W power and up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug bays for storage expansion.
