The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack system built around two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors, each running at 2.0 GHz with 14 cores. It ships with 256 GB of registered ECC DDR4 memory across eight 32 GB modules. The platform targets midsize and large enterprises running virtual desktop infrastructure, data warehousing or high-performance computing nodes.
The server provides 24 hot-swap drive bays that accept SAS or SATA devices and includes a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery backup. The controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 as well as pass-through mode. Two 300 GB 10K SAS drives are installed, leaving capacity for extensive storage expansion.
A factory-fitted Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivers two 1 GbE ports and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible uplink options. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides full out-of-band remote management with virtual console and lifecycle automation. Buyers needing fibre-channel connectivity or GPU compute acceleration will require additional expansion cards not included in this configuration.
