DELL PowerEdge R940 3U rack server 4× Xeon 6130 2.1 GHz 16-core 512 GB DDR4 8× 1.2 TB SAS H730P

Built for four-socket density

The Dell PowerEdge R940 is a 3U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 16 cores. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 16 modules and includes a PERC H730P controller managing eight 1.2 TB 10K SAS drives. Dual 1600 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise provide redundant power and remote management in a single chassis.

Suits dense database and virtualisation workloads

Organisations running large in-memory databases, heavy virtualisation clusters or ERP systems benefit from the 64 combined cores and half-terabyte of memory. The 3U form factor fits standard racks while delivering four-socket performance. Buyers who need more than 48 DIMM slots, more than eight 2.5-inch drive bays or a different network interface should evaluate other platforms.

Four physical CPUs installed

The system arrives with the maximum of four processors already fitted, so the socket count is fixed at four. This determines the total core count, memory-channel population and licensing baseline for many enterprise applications. Confirm that your software licensing and workload scaling align with this four-socket configuration before purchase.
