Dell Precision 3650 Workstation

The Dell Precision 3650 is a mid-tower workstation built for professionals running CAD, 3D modelling, engineering or financial applications. It pairs an 8-core Intel Core i7-11700K processor with 128GB of DDR4 3200MHz memory and a 2TB NVMe SSD. An Nvidia Quadro P1000 4GB graphics card with four mini DisplayPort 1.4 outputs drives multi-monitor setups for visual workloads.

Compatibility Checklist

Verify that your monitors accept mini DisplayPort 1.4 inputs or that you have suitable adapters for HDMI or DisplayPort. The motherboard uses an LGA 1200 socket and supports a maximum of 128GB DDR4, which this unit already reaches. Ensure your peripheral mix fits the available USB and Ethernet ports, and confirm the 460W 80PLUS Gold power supply meets any future GPU upgrade plans.

Thermals and Power

The 460W 80PLUS Gold certified power supply delivers efficient energy conversion for the Core i7-11700K and Quadro P1000 under typical professional loads. Mid-tower chassis airflow handles the 3.6GHz base and 5.0GHz turbo processor alongside the GDDR5 graphics card without excessive fan noise during standard CAD or modelling sessions. Expect stable temperatures for sustained production workloads.

Questions about this item

Does the Precision 3650 come with a monitor or do I need to buy one separately?

The workstation ships without a monitor; you will need to provide your own display and connect it to the four mini DisplayPort 1.4 outputs on the Quadro P1000.

Should I choose the 128 GB DDR4 3200 configuration or is a smaller capacity available?

This unit is already populated with 128 GB across four 32 GB DDR4 3200 modules, which matches the maximum supported memory for the platform.

What does the 5.0 GHz turbo speed mean for daily CAD work?

The Core i7-11700K can boost up to 5.0 GHz on active cores, giving short bursts of extra clock speed for single-threaded CAD operations while the 8-core base runs at 3.6 GHz.
