Mobile workstation with UHD touch display

The Precision 5530 is a 15.6" mobile workstation built around a 3840 x 2160 IPS touchscreen and an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8850H six-core processor. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory, a 1 TB SSD and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics card with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Quadro P1000 4 GB GDDR5 for certified apps

The single specification that decides fit is the NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5, a professional GPU certified for CAD, DCC and visualisation workloads. It drives the 72 % colour-gamut UHD panel and external displays through HDMI 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3. Buyers who need higher VRAM or newer certified drivers should look elsewhere.

Dual-fan cooling sustains six-core clocks

The thermal design uses dual fans to maintain airflow across the i7-8850H and Quadro P1000 during extended render or simulation sessions. This lets the processor hold its 2.60 GHz base and reach 4.30 GHz Turbo Boost longer than a single-fan layout would allow. The chassis stays cool enough for lap use under continuous load.

Questions about this item

How does the 4.30 GHz turbo speed of the i7-8850H behave under sustained workloads?

The six-core processor runs at 2.60 GHz base and can reach 4.30 GHz with Turbo Boost; actual sustained clocks depend on the dual-fan cooling and workload intensity.

What display bandwidth does the Thunderbolt 3 port support for external monitors?

Thunderbolt 3 provides x4 PCIe lanes and works alongside the HDMI 2.0 output for multi-display setups.

Which storage form factors are compatible with the Precision 5530's internal slots?

The chassis accepts M.2 solid-state drives in SATA or PCIe NVME configurations.
