Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8850H six-core processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB of GDDR5 handles professional graphics workloads. The UHD touchscreen resolves 3840 x 2160 on an IPS panel with 72 % colour coverage. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and a 1 TB SSD.

Check ports and power before ordering

The chassis provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port and an HDMI 2.0 output for external displays. A headphone and microphone combo jack is included for audio. Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The supplied Dell AC adapter powers the system; verify that your workspace can accommodate its connector and cable reach.

Sustained-load thermal behaviour

Dual fans draw air through the chassis to manage heat during extended compute or rendering tasks. The cooling design targets stable clock speeds on the six-core processor and Quadro GPU over long sessions rather than short bursts. Surface temperatures on the platinum-silver deck and underside will rise under continuous load, so a firm, ventilated surface is advisable.

Questions about this item

Does the box contain only the laptop and AC adapter, or are accessories such as a stylus or docking station included?

The Dell Precision 5530 ships with the laptop and a Dell AC adapter. No stylus, docking station or other accessories are mentioned in the specifications.

Should I choose the 1 TB SSD configuration or one of the smaller 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB options for faster boot times?

All listed drives are solid-state; capacity does not change boot speed. Choose 1 TB if you need space for large project files, or a smaller drive if you prefer lower cost and use external storage.

What does the 3840 x 2160 UHD touch screen mean for daily work on this 15.6" panel?

The 3840 x 2160 resolution on a 15.6" IPS panel gives very sharp text and 72 % colour gamut, useful for design review; touch input adds direct manipulation but increases glare and reduces battery life compared with a non-touch model.
