15.6" UHD touch workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation with a 3840 x 2160 IPS touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8850H six-core processor, 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe SSD. Professional NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics with 4 GB GDDR5 drive CAD and 3D applications. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suits ISV-certified workflows.

Engineers and designers running SolidWorks, Revit or similar ISV-certified software benefit from the Quadro driver stack and 72% colour gamut display. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 support external displays and docks. Buyers who need more than 256 GB of internal storage or a higher-wattage GPU for heavy rendering should look at other configurations.

Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5 decides fit

The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P1000 4 GB GDDR5 is the specification that determines suitability. It provides certified drivers for professional 3D applications but lacks the memory and compute capacity for large-scale simulation or deep-learning workloads. Verify your software's GPU requirements against this card before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DDR4 memory, and what step do people often miss?

The laptop uses DDR4 memory slots; the step people miss is seating both SO-DIMMs fully until the retention clips click on each side.

What maintenance or replacement will the NVMe SSD need later?

The 256 GB NVMe drive can be swapped for a larger NVMe module; no other storage maintenance is required.

What limit appears first under sustained load with the Quadro P1000 4 GB GDDR5?

The 4 GB GDDR5 frame buffer fills first, causing texture swapping before the GPU core reaches its thermal ceiling.
