Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8850H six-core processor running at 2.60 GHz with Turbo up to 4.30 GHz. It includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro installed and is finished in platinum silver.

UHD 3840 x 2160 touch display and I/O limits

The InfinityEdge panel delivers a 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution with multi-touch input and an IPS panel covering 72% color gamut. External video is handled through one HDMI 2.0 port and one Thunderbolt 3 connection with x4 PCIe lanes. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports provide standard peripheral bandwidth, while a headphone/microphone combo jack handles audio.

Premium chassis with dual-fan cooling

The thinner, lighter premium chassis uses a dual-fan thermal design to maintain airflow under sustained professional graphics loads from the NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5 memory. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 simplify docking to external displays and storage, and the included Dell AC adapter keeps the system powered. Buyers who need more than 16 GB of memory or a second GPU should consider a larger workstation form factor.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 GB DDR4 and 2 TB NVMe build or look for a 32 GB or 1 TB alternative?

This unit ships with 16 GB DDR4 and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD; the platform supports up to 32 GB DDR4 and smaller NVMe sizes such as 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB, so choose the larger memory if your workflows need more headroom.

What does the 4.30 GHz turbo on the i7-8850H actually deliver inside this chassis?

The six-core i7-8850H runs at 2.60 GHz base and can reach 4.30 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost, giving strong single-thread speed for CAD and rendering while the dual-fan cooling sustains performance under load.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 port and HDMI 2.0 output actually drive?

Thunderbolt 3 provides x4 PCIe bandwidth for external GPUs, docks or NVMe storage, while HDMI 2.0 supports a 3840 x 2160 display at 60 Hz for a second UHD monitor.
