Mobile workstation with i9-9880H

The Dell Precision 5540 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation powered by an Intel Core i9-9880H processor. It comes with 32 GB of memory and a 1 TB solid-state drive. The NVIDIA Quadro T2000 graphics card handles professional visual workloads. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suited for CAD and data tasks

This configuration suits engineers, designers and analysts who need strong CPU performance and certified drivers for 3D modelling or data science. The 3.97 kg weight and the noted low battery health make it a poor fit for frequent travellers or users who rely on long unplugged sessions. Buyers who need a lighter chassis or all-day battery life should look elsewhere.

Quadro T2000 with 4 GB VRAM

The NVIDIA Quadro T2000 includes 4 GB of dedicated video memory and is certified for major CAD and DCC applications. This GPU specification determines whether the laptop can accelerate the specific professional software you run daily.

Questions about this item

When does the Intel Core i9-9880H throttle under a continuous heavy workload?

The processor will hit its thermal limit and reduce clocks once the cooling system can no longer dissipate the heat generated at full turbo.

How loud and hot does the Precision 5540 get when it runs all day?

Fan noise rises to an audible level and the chassis becomes warm to the touch as the Quadro T2000 and i9-9880H share the same thermal zone.

Which power adapter must I already own to charge this laptop?

A Dell USB-C charger that delivers the wattage required by the 5540's charging circuit.
