Workstation for professional workloads

The Dell Precision 5820 Tower is built for engineers, designers and analysts who need certified stability in a mid-tower form factor. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 950 Watt 80 Plus Gold power supply. The Xeon W-2235 provides six cores with a 3.8 GHz base clock and 4.6 GHz turbo for responsive single-thread performance.

Sustained performance with ECC memory

Registered ECC DDR4 2933 memory protects data integrity during long compute runs while the 1 TB PCIe NVMe drive keeps project assets accessible. The Quadro P2000 offers 5 GB GDDR5 on a 160-bit bus and four DisplayPort outputs for multi-monitor setups. Gigabit Ethernet and integrated Realtek audio complete the I/O foundation.

Replaces older Xeon towers lacking NVMe speed

This system upgrades workstations still running mechanical drives or non-ECC memory, delivering faster boot, application load and scratch-disk response. The eight DIMM slots support up to 256 GB for future expansion. It is not suited for buyers who need dual-GPU compute density or more than four native display outputs.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply produce when the Xeon W-2235 runs at 4.6 GHz Turbo all day?

The 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply is rated at 90 % efficiency, so waste heat stays low and the system fans run quietly even under sustained 4.6 GHz Turbo loads.

Which display cables or adapters do I need to connect monitors to the Quadro P2000's four DisplayPort outputs?

The Quadro P2000 provides four DisplayPort connectors; use standard DisplayPort cables or DisplayPort-to-HDMI/DVI adapters for each monitor you attach.

Will my existing DDR4-2666 ECC modules work alongside the installed 32 GB DDR4-2933 Registered ECC memory?

Yes, the eight memory slots support up to 256 GB of DDR4 ECC; mixing 2666 MHz modules with the factory 2933 MHz kit will run at the lower speed.
