Mobile workstation with Xeon W-10885M

The Dell Precision 7750 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an eight-core Intel Xeon W-10885M processor. It ships with 64 GB of memory and a 2 TB solid-state drive running Windows 10 Pro. The non-touch display delivers a 1920 x 1080 FHD image for professional applications.

Sustained performance

The Xeon W-10885M operates at a 2.4 GHz base frequency and can reach 5.3 GHz with Turbo Boost across its eight cores. Two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports provide 40 Gbit/s bandwidth for external storage and docks while the system is under continuous load. Integrated graphics handle display output without a discrete GPU thermal envelope.

Eight-core Xeon for multi-threaded workloads

The defining specification is the eight-core Xeon W-10885M with a 5.3 GHz maximum turbo frequency. This core count and clock ceiling determine whether the laptop suits heavy multi-threaded tasks such as compilation, simulation or large dataset analysis. Buyers who need discrete GPU acceleration or more than 64 GB of memory should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Xeon W-10885M get when running at 5.3 GHz turbo all day?

The eight-core Xeon W-10885M reaches 5.3 GHz turbo under load; sustained heat and fan noise depend on the Precision 7750's internal cooling design.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports and the HDMI 2.0 output?

You need Thunderbolt 3-compatible docks or drives for the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports and an HDMI 2.0 cable for the external display connection.

Will my older USB 3.0 Type-A accessories work with the USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports on this 2020 workstation?

Yes, the two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and the Powershare port are backward compatible with existing USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices.
